“Whataview” – aptly named by our friend Kaye – her first words when she walked through the house. It’s remained and keeps being repeated!
Our home has one of the most awesome views of the Pacific Ocean. Set on Fisherman’s Bay cliff top we command magnificent views across the water to the sand dunes on Stockton and then all the way to the ships at anchor at Newcastle.
Incredibly this is one of the few places on the east coast of Australia where you can watch the spectacular summer sun set over the ocean.
After the sun goes down the lights of Newcastle and the ships moored off the coast emerge creating a wonderful night perspective.
Whataview is also very private, nothing between you the water. No-one walking past as there is no access across the front
During your stay at “Whataview” you will most likely see lots of dolphins playing in the water in front of you. The humpback whales are also around in the season. There is always lots of bird life on the water and usually a few fishermen on the rocks below. Never a dull moment!
We have maintained the beach cottage feel whilst adding the modern essentials: new kitchen, ensuite in main bedroom and a new second bathroom. The minute you walk in the front door the ocean greets you and this only gets better as you walk through the house to the huge outside deck (100 square meters). Built to maximize the stunning view and allow outdoor relaxing and entertaining.
This very large deck is a feature of the house it captures the total vista – so you can sit there enjoying lunch or dinner on the outdoor setting or just sitting on the deck chairs watching the world go by; there’s no better place to be especially at sunset.
The main bedroom also captures these lovely views; you can sit in bed with the floor to ceiling doors open, cup of tea in hand and watch the magnificent Pacific Ocean.
The sitting room in front of the house with a day bed and couch captures the lovely breeze – great in the afternoon to escape the sun enjoying a book or just relaxing. This room in winter gets the morning sun.
So if you want to..........
- dolphin or whale watch
- enjoy all meals on the deck watching the ocean
- swim at a safe family beach a minute's walk away
- 4-wheel-drive on nearby Stockton beach (5 minutes),
- golf,
- or just idle the days away
- in a well maintained, clean, modernized beach cottage
This is for you!!!
We think it’s the best kept secret around.
Hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Dolphin Cruise at Nelson Bay. Cruise around the Port Stephens area looking for Dolphins and Whales ( when in season). Cruises depart daily and most companies have a 99% sighting rate.
Take a 4WD to the beach or join one of the many tours available along Stockton beach and the dunes.
More Adventurous at Williamtown. Try the Quad bike over the sand hills and dunes or maybe a camel is more your style.
Two great golf courses - Nelson Bay and Horizons - both 10 mins drive. Pacific Dunes 20 mins away.
Oakdale Farm & Fauna World at Salt Ash is great for the family. Children can feed and/or nurse the babay animals, meet the Koalas or even milk a cow.
Toboggan Hill Park at Nelson Bay. Now there's more than just the popular Toboggan Run, why not try tha Model Plaster painting area with hundreds of models to choose from. Why not try the two kilometre long tractor train ride over the hill which takes about 30 minutes, stopping at the Giant Maze - 1000sq. metres. Not enough to do try the 19 hole mini golf, indoor rock climbing, radio controlled cars, video games and Krazy Karts.
Uninterrupted Ocean views - 180 degree views of Pacific Ocean (telescope not included)
100square metre deck which takes full advantage of these views.
Folding glass floor to ceiling doors that also maximise view
Outdoor dining for 10 - watching the ocean while you eat! - doesnt get better
BBQ (hooked to main gas)
TV - local and satellite
DVD/CD players with large range of videos
Duvets on all beds
Modern appliances - large oven, cooktops, washing machine, dryer, iron, vacum cleaner etc
